Your WhatsApp group chat experience will change! The Meta-owned instant messaging app is looking to add a new feature. This will show the group participants’ profile pictures to some iOS beta tester, WhatsApp update tracking portal WabetaInfo reported. This will help identify group members easily when chatting in large groups on iPhone. It would be especially beneficial to help recognize other participants with similar names.

But how do iOS beta users know if this feature is available to them? WabetaInfo announced that ‘the best way to discover if this feature is enabled for your account is to open a group.’ In case, if any participant has a blank profile picture or is hidden due to privacy settings, the profile picture will be colored using the same color as the contact name.
The report announced that the group participants’ profile picture view is available to some iOS beta testers, and that it will roll out to more beta testers in the coming weeks.

More than just a feature to view profile pictures of group participants, WhatsApp is also currently testing a new feature called “messages with yourself” for some beta testers. This will provide a private chat option within the app. There is another big improvement that will allow users to transition subtitles along with images, videoGIFs and documents.
However, it is still unclear exactly when this feature will be available to all WhatsApp users.
