“What is my core? It’s about money”
Anthony Joshua believes Tyson Fury will return to boxing if a big fight comes up for him.
The former two-time world champion is preparing for a August rematch with Oleksandr Usyk in Saudi Arabia.
Joshua was eliminated by the Ukrainian in London last September, losing his WBA Super, IBF, IBO and WBO titles at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
And despite being focused on winning a third title when he meets the undisputed former cruiser champion at the Jeddah Superdome, Live exclusively on Sky Sports Box Office in the UKJoshua reckons WBC champion Fury will return if a bout that upsets his pickles happens.
In an honest and profound Q&A with Oxford UnionJoshua says:
“If Fury is going to honor the boxers’ agreement and back off for, in the end, going back to boxing, what is my core? It’s about money.
“If Fury shows up and follows the gentleman’s deal, a lot of money will be made.
“I know that money can also help a lot of people”
Fury recently defeated Dillian Whyte in a record-breaking competition at Wembley Stadium, stopping boxer Brixton for six rounds in front of 94,000 people at the National Stadium.
Although he has yet to give up his world title, ‘The Gypsy King’ said after his win over ‘The Body Snatcher’ that he is retiring from boxing.
But Joshua doesn’t believe this is the last time we’ll see the 33-year-old Fury (32-0, 23 KOs):
“I feel like retirement doesn’t mean you’ve completely given up and you’re on the beach clicking your toes and drinking a bottle of Corona.
“I feel he is still being positive and he will return if the right fight is given to him.”
