WATCH: Max Homa drains career second ace in final round of Rocket Mortgage Classic
Max Homa has never been able to win the 2023 Rocket Mortgage Classic, but he can feel good about his hole-punch in Sunday’s final at the Detroit Golf Club. Overcoming a 140-yard par-3 15, Homa moved to the top of the standings with a score of 67 in the finals after really failing to achieve anything in the first three days. Homa finished under 15 for the week, good for the top 25 but far behind the current leaders.
Hole-in-one is Homa’s second on the PGA Tour; he previously made a trump card at the 2022 Arnold Palmer Invitational.
It’s been an enjoyable (and often frustrating) activity for Homa since March. He’s had two great top 10s in that time frame — Quail Hollow and Colonial — but also missed four, including once at the US Open at the Los Angeles Country Club. The trump card could be a nice farewell when he heads to the UK for link golf in the next few weeks.
This is his fourth appearance at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, and he’s made it through all four but has yet to finish in the top 10 at Detroit Golf Club.
