Warner Bros. announced today a platformer fighter in their own Smash Bros style that throws characters from multiple series and their franchises into a huge splash. In MultiVersus, you can expect to see Shaggy from Scooby Doo teaming up with Steven Universe to battle real killers like Harley Quinn and Arya Stark, etc. It’s coming out in 2022 and will be free to play. MultiVersus is a 2v2 platform fighter with 1v1 support and 4 players free for all. And yup, it looks like Smash. Characters confirmed so far are: Batman, Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn from DC; Shaggy from Scooby-Doo; Bugs Bunny; Arya Stark from Game Of Thrones; Tom and Jerry; Jake and Finn in Adventure Time; Steven Universe and Garnet’s title character; and some brand new beastie called Reindog. The rest of the lineup has yet to be announced.
The game will launch for free in 2022 on PC, PlayStations and Xboxes, with cross-platform play.
MultiVersus will be the first game from the new studio Player First Games. They were co-founded by Tony Huynh, who designed combat for God Of War 3 and God Of War: Ascension, and Chris White, who previously worked at Riot Games.
