Volvo has teased the design of a new smaller electric SUV that it confirmed on Tuesday will be available in the United States.
Volvo says the compact model, called the EX30, will be revealed on June 7 and will be available the same day for orders in the United States.
The EX30 badge, previously confirmed to be forthcoming, follows Volvo’s new naming structure for electric SUVs starting with the upcoming product. SUV EX90that will be Made in USA and will be delivered to US customers in early 2024.

An initial glimpse of the car suggests that its characteristics may be close to that of the EX90, although there may be a front light bar instead of individual conventional headlights. To speculate on the design, it could hint at an homage to the low-set and concealed headlights of the Volvo 480 from the 1980s.
Volvo has yet to confirm where the EX30 will be manufactured, or to what extent it might be manufactured with a platform shared with its parent company, China’s Geely. It is likely based on Geely’s SEA platform that was revealed to reinforce upcoming Polestar 4.

The brand confirmed in 2021 that they have plans fully electric by 2030and its goal is to tackle sustainability in a way that not every automaker can—with plans no skin on all its vehicles by 2030 as well.
In the past, Volvo didn’t usually bring its smallest models to the US—although the sporty C30 hatchback has marked an exception in recent history. ONE electricity C30 was offered under a limited rental program in Europe a decade ago, and it has enabled some of the cold-weather testing capabilities that are already present in modern Volvo EVs including Recharge XC40 and Recharge C40.
