Volkswagen Golf Fan Fest 2024 makes it into Malaysia Book of Records with 370 Golfs – largest gathering ever
Over the weekend, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Golf launch with Volkswagen Golf Fan Festivalheld on Saturday, August 24 at the Sepang International Circuit. The lavish birthday party featured a host of activities for both owners and enthusiasts, including the public unveiling of the Golf GTI Edition 50.
The main attraction was the attempt to enter the Malaysia Book of Records for the “Largest Volkswagen Golf Gathering”, which VPCM broke by gathering 370 of the iconic Teutonic hatchbacks at one location at the same time. The record certificate was awarded to CEO of the company Denyu Bostandzhiev at the event.
Visitors – who get in free – will also be treated to a display of Golf cars from the Mk1 to the Mk7.5, as well as the latest models. Performance of the Mk8 Golf R And GTI and other local Volkswagen models. They can also experience R Performance’s new Drift Mode and torque vectoring rear axle for themselves by taking the Golf R Drift Taxi for a spin.
For owners, they can take part in the Golf Gymkhana and Golf Showdown challenges, with winners taking home a variety of prizes. Hardcore golf enthusiasts can also compete to see who knows the most in the Volkswagen Biggest Golf Fan competition. Later in the day, some owners took a few hot laps around the entire layout.
Other activities available include tech talks and workshops, along with racing simulators, Tamiya tracks and sand art for kids. Plenty of snacks are also available from a variety of food trucks and owners such as Kopi Beetle, Koppiku, Softsrve, Strangers at 47 and Tutti Frutti.
The event is supported by Trapo, Bridgestone, Kuzig Glanz Detailing, Mangala Estate, Maxtag and Sony, the latter of which is offering visitors the chance to try out the latest Sony Alpha professional cameras and lenses. Trapo is also offering deals including 15% off window films, coatings and PPF films along with a full front PPF Trapo Pro+ package for RM2,999 (worth RM3,700).
