Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland
MotoGP facts and stats
At the Catalan GP, Fabio Quartararo won the MotoGP 10th time and the second this year with Portugal.
Quartararo crossed the line at 6,473 seconds before Jorge Martin, which was Quartararo’s biggest victory since he stepped onto MotoGP in 2019, and biggest in dry conditions since Marc Marquez won by way 11.413 seconds in Australia in 2019. This is the biggest win in dry conditions for a Yamaha rider in MotoGP since Jorge Lorenzo won France in 2016 by a winning margin over Valentino. Rossi is 10,654 seconds.
Catalunya is Quartararo’s 11th victory in the GP race. He is still in 2nd place in the list of French drivers with the most GP wins, behind Johann Zarco who is leading with 16 victories.
This is also Quartararo’s 25th podium with Yamaha in MotoGP and he is currently seventh on the list of Yamaha riders with the most podiums in the top class, three behind MotoGP legend Max Biaggi (Valentino Rossi leads with 142 times). to the highest podium with Yamaha).
Jorge Martin finished second in Barcelona for his sixth MotoGP podium and second of the season so far alongside Argentina as he also finished second. Therefore, this is Martin’s sixth time on the podium with Ducati. He is currently 10th on the list of Ducati riders with the most podiums, one behind Andrea Iannone and Jorge Lorenzo, and two behind teammate Johann Zarco.
Johann Zarco finished third at the Catalan GP for his third podium so far this season alongside Indonesia and Portugal. This is his 14th podium in the top division, extending his record as the driver with the most podiums without a single win in his class (against Colin Edwards).
This is Zarco’s eighth time on the podium with Ducati, and he has risen to 7th place on the list of Ducati riders with the most podiums, two behind Danilo Petrucci.
In Quartararo and Zarco, this is the sixth time the two French drivers have shared the top podium and the fifth time with Quartararo and Zarco along with Doha (2021), France (2021), Indonesia (2022) and Portugal ( 2022).
For Martin and Zarco, this is the 15th MotoGP race in a row with at least one Ducati rider on the podium (the race started in Aragon last year). This is the first time of the Bologna factory since 2007 (Turkey) – 2008 (Qatar), with 17 consecutive races, their record in the class.
Francesco Baganaia, who won in Italy, fell in Catalunya. Since the opening race of the year, with the exception of Quartararo in Portugal (P1) and Spain (P2), all the winners failed to finish in the top 10 in the latter race.
Only two riders have scored in all of the MotoGP races this season: Quartararo and Aleix Espargaro.
Remy Gardner is 11th in Catalunya for his best MotoGP result. Marco Bezzecchi, who had an accident and retired, still leads the fight for Rookie of the Year with 30 points ahead of Darryn Binder (10), who finished P12 as second Yamaha rider, Remy Gardner (8), Fabio Di Giannantonio (8), who also crashed and retired, and Raul Fernandez (1), who scored the first point in MotoGP.
The only one of this year’s 5 MotoGP rookies to have ever won the German GP in any category smaller than last year’s Remy Gardner, who is on his way to claim the title.
However, Marc Bezzecchi (P2 2018 in Moto3 and P3 2021 in Moto2), previously stood on the podium at the Sachsenring.
