Volkswagen is encouraging its brands to pause paid ads on Twitteronly as the CEO of Tesla, Elon Muskget backns of the social media platform. Volkswagen is one of the largest automakers in the world – if not the largest – so the loss is a significant impact on the platform, even if it is only temporary.

Now that VW is pausing advertising on Twitter, it’s recommended that the automakers or brands it oversees (much more, the ones it owns) also pause their paid advertising, follow Reuters. The Volkswagen Group (AG) comprises many of the world’s most famous automobile brands, including Audi, Bentley, Cupra, Lamborghini, Porsche, Chair, kodanewly revived Scoutand of course, Volkswagen (sans Group). The multinational auto giant also owns Ducatijust to round the count with two-wheelers.

On Friday, the VW mothering team released a statement about the pause in paid advertising on Twitter, and went on to say, “We are closely monitoring the situation and will decide on next steps.” depending on its development”, per Reuters.

This marks the latest automaker to pull-out of Twitter as soon as Elon Musk takes over. Earlier this week, Synthetic engine announced it will stop advertising on the social networking site. The American automaker’s pullback from Twitter appears to be a more permanent exit than Volkswagen, although GM said it will still support customers on the platform.

The German auto giant is not committing to a permanent Twitter exodus for its brands, but it’s going to cautiously approach any return to the platform. It’s not clear where the directive is coming from, or whether it’s an unanimous decision on the part of VW leadership or from the newly appointed CEO, Oliver Blume.

Of the company Former CEO Herbert Diess could have tried another way if it involved Twitter and Elon Musk, since Diess showed up to support Musk. Two people express mutual support sometimes, and acknowledge the efforts of their respective companies where EVs are concerned. However, it seems that Blume is not enthusiastic about the controversy surrounding the Tesla CEO Twitter repurchase. That’s not to mention the conflict of interest that indirectly gives money to a competitor, such as VW that pays Musk and thereby paves the way for Tesla’s coffers.

Neither Musk nor Twitter seem to be having a good time right now; Musk plans to enforce new policies (fees!) that many people find uncomfortable, while Twitter is facing cuts. labor force. These cuts are at the behest of Musk, who plans to streamline the platform. Worry lessrs and less cost is the way to more profit, right? Yes, except in cases like this, where anything less includes less income from companies looking to advertise on your platform.
