Unveiled at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2022 in August, Daihatsu Ayla EV Concept was given a video walkaround courtesy tour of Daihatsu Sahabatku YouTube channel at the brand’s showroom.
Here, the video narrator begins a tour of the EV concept hatchback along its exterior, where the front end of the Ayla EV Concept wears a full-width LED strip that passes through its central logo, somewhat similar to that of a Volkswagen. Golf Mk8, along with yellow. the strip is also full width and is connected through the headlights.
There’s another VW-esque aesthetic here on the front of the Ayla EV Concept, where the ‘parametric model’ shape arrays echo those of the ID.3. Along each side of the concept is another yellow band that wraps around the lower edges of its conservatory, adding visual appeal along with the two-tone scheme provided by the roof and pillars. black.
Through the window, the interior with seat belts and light tones can be seen. Another distinguishing feature of the Ayla EV Concept’s exterior is its set of exterior cameras, which are usually regular mirrors, providing the driver with a rearward view via video feed screens on each side.
Continuing along the exterior, the highlight for the Ayla EV Concept is the set of 17-inch wheels, which also give neon yellow accents to its two-tone paintwork.
Here, the presenter notes that the battery of the Ayla EV Concept is located at the rear of the car and we know that its battery has a capacity of 32 kWh. A 60 kW (80 hp) electric motor is located at the front of the vehicle, driving the front wheels.
Moving along the rear of the car, its tail lights feature sequential turn signals – like those on the front of the car – and the turn signals are part of a taillight cluster that extends across the rear door as well as the body. Here, the upper corner of the tail light reads ‘Ayla EV’.
Along the top of the tailgate is a spoiler finished in black to match the roof of the car and this also receives neon yellow accents on its rear edge connecting the yellow bands from the edge. bottom of the window lines on each side.
The entrance to the interior of the Ayla EV Concept is through the door handles from the manufacture provided by ICE Ayla, and the driver gauge is provided by a seven-inch digital display. Here, neon yellow highlights can also be seen to outline the surrounds of the air conditioning vents and the start-stop button, while powertrain control is via a rotary selector.
The seat upholstery as observed by the presenter is a combination of leather and Alcantara, here decorated in bright colors. Moving to the rear, the rear doors of the Ayla EV Concept appear shorter than the door handles of the production model, and some additional concept car flair is added here; The rear sloping edge of the window line contains a touch sensor on the rear door that opens the door latch.
Compared to the concept built by Astra Daihatsu Motor at its R&D center in Indonesia, the Low Cost Classified Internal Combustion (LCGC) Ayla is powered by a 3NR-VE 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine combined with a 5-cylinder engine with a manual or a four-speed automatic.
