Venus Optics Laowa Argus 45mm f / 0.95 FF FF . Lens Review

Normal focal length lenses with wide maximum apertures are among the most popular options available, suitable for everything from portraiture to low-light events and astrophotography. The Venus Optics Laowa Argus 45mm f/0.95 FF Lens offers that kind of package at a pretty affordable price, and this excellent review video takes a look at the lens and the kind of image quality and performance you can expect from it in practice.

Coming to you from Christopher FrostThis great video review takes a look at Venus Optics Laowa Argus 45mm f / 0.95 FF . Lens. Personally, I’ve always found 35mm to 50mm lenses quite interesting, as 35mm tends to be smidgen wide in some cases and 50mm a bit long. The 45mm f/0.95 offers a host of useful features in addition to its unique focal length and very wide aperture, including:

  • One aspherical element, one extra-low dispersion element, and three extra-high refractive elements to reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations, while increasing sharpness and clarity
  • Removable aperture ring for making videos
  • Durable metal construction
  • Internal focusing mechanism to minimize focused breathing

Of course, the manual focus design might put some people off, but with the features of modern mirrorless cameras, manual focusing is much easier these days. Check out the video above for Frost’s full thoughts on the lens.
