Van Heerden: I’ll Shine Against Benn, I’m a Better Fighter
Before delivering a punch, Chris van Heerden decided to shoot Conor Benn.
The two heavyweight contenders pitted each other in Manchester on Saturday night with the South African seen by many as just a stepping stone to bigger things for Benn.
However, van Heerden dismissed Benn’s ability to fight and saw Saturday night as the time when people will realize how good ‘The Heat’ is.
“I am a much better fighter than Conor Benn,” van Heerden said in a Matchroom press release.
“In my opinion, Conor is an emotional, angry warrior. He relies on his own strength. He can’t box with me. He is not a boxer. He’s a powerful puncher and I don’t judge him as a boxer. That’s why I say he’s a very emotional and angry type of fighter in my opinion.
“They see it as a stepping stone fight for Conor, but I see it as a fight coming up for me. This is where I shine and people say, ‘wow where has this kid been?’
