I’m sure we’ll dress up as vampires one day, but it looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer than expected (again). Big Bad Wolf developer has delayed Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong in May 2022. They say the additional three months will help ensure their team maintains a healthy work-life balance, while giving them more time to polish and complete QA.
“Swansong has so many characters, choices, dialogue and opportunities to decide how the story goes and our ultimate focus is on quality” Big Bad Wolf posted on Twitter. “With this in mind, we have made the difficult decision to delay the release of Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong from February 2022 to May 2022.”
Blood-sucking RPG World Of Darkness was originally slated to launch this year, before being pushed back to February. I’m certainly not complaining about pandemic-related delays, though, things are still pretty weird there.
“This is not a decision we take lightly, but a necessary one to ensure the highest possible quality while maintaining a healthy work-life balance for our team. “, the developers added. “Granted, the pandemic has also stymied our plans, but this delay will allow us to apply some additional polishing and give us more time to QA.”
Swansong’s new release date is May 19, 2022. At launch, it will be exclusive to Epic game store.
Come to think of it, a lot of the big games are coming out in February (like Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, Destiny 2: The Witch King, etc.), so it makes perfect sense to get out of their way. It would be nice if the publishers worked together so that we could get a large number of games throughout the year, instead of a large cluster.
Elsewhere in the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, The upcoming Bloodhunt battle royale has also been delayed until “early 2022”. And Bloodlines 2 continues to live in some sort of limbo – the game swapped developers earlier this year, but Paradox Interactive still won’t say who the new developer is. Fine, keep your secret.
