Eddie Hearn told Social boxing that an official announcement for the world heavyweight title rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua will come next week.
Matchroom Advertiser spoke to Andi Purewal yesterday as Joshua Buatsi and Craig Richards led publicity rehearsals for Saturday’s performance at London’s O2 Arena.
With the war just two months away, Hearn was asked why it had to be postponed.
“Just a contract,” he said.
“Make sure various arrangements are made, payments are made. You’ll get a notification next week about that fight because we’ve got nine weeks to go. July 23 is still the leader. Expect an official Joshua-Usyk announcement next week. ”
For a venue, it seems increasingly certain that Joshua’s drive to reclaim his WBO, WBA and IBF belts from the talented Ukrainian will take place in the Middle East.
“For now, it’s like being in the lead,” Hearn confirmed.
