US-made VW ID.4 pricing, Lucid’s long haul, EV deals in California: Car News Today

The lowest priced US-made version of 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 will start at $38,790, VW revealed this morning. That’s for a 62 kWh battery pack and an estimated 208 miles of range for the ID.4 Standard, which is much better equipped than the regular base model.
Lucid Motors pointed to supply chain problems in cutting its projected delivery target for this year in half — to just 6,000 to 7,000 Air electric luxury sedans by 2022. It hopes to move more, like logistics, internally, and in the meantime, it has reportedly continued to expand its sales and service network, while factory expansion schedules and The Gravity SUV is still a work in progress.
And according to a report earlier this week, the current situation of high demand for many electric vehicles, combined with a lack of state capital, has caused California’s many EV deals are out of reach for the low-income households they intend to.
