US lifts test COVID-19 for air travelers entering country

After more than five years of having to test negative for COVID-19 to enter the United States, a measure introduced by the Trump administration in January 2021, the Biden administration is lifting restrictions.

According to CNN, a senior adviser and the CDC announced that the lift went into effect at midnight Sunday.

The Covid-19 pandemic has now entered a new phase, due to the widespread use of highly effective Covid-19 vaccines, the availability of effective treatments, and the high rate of accumulation. of vaccines and population-level infection immunity in the United States. Each of these measures has contributed to reducing the risk of severe illness and death across the United States.

A senior official also said the lifting of restrictions was supported “by science and data.” Although the restriction will be lifted, CDC will reassess within 90 days.

It is also reported that Biden will work with airlines to make the transition as smooth as possible.

As you may know, the travel industry has been pushing for this measure to end as many feel it is affecting international travel.

American Airlines’ Robert Isom called the ban “absurd.”

Roger Dow, president of the American Travel Association, stated:

The Biden administration deserves credit as this move will welcome returning travelers from around the world and accelerate the recovery of the US tourism industry. International inbound tourism is vital to businesses and workers across the country, who have struggled to undo the losses from this value sector.

Previously, air travelers had to submit a negative COVID-19 test one day before flying into the US

Guys, how do you feel about this?
