The drills come after Russia’s military buildup – between 169,000 and 190,000 by US estimates, including separatist fighters in areas of Ukraine’s insurgency – along the Ukrainian border. Mr Biden’s Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin, said Russian forces were beginning to “expand and move closer” to the border with Ukraine.
