Two bulls trapped in fence were freed by Colorado wildlife officers
Estes Park in Colorado is known for its resident moose. The city’s proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park allows many outdoor enthusiasts to see the herd as they go in and out of one of the National Park Service’s gems. A recent interaction between two gaurs in the city left them both stranded, but wildlife officers arrived to save the day.
According to a social media post from Colorado Parks and Wildlife, two elk got tangled up after they managed to get stuck in a wire fence. A video shared with the post shows the animals unable to get out of their predicament, with little room for them to move. Luckily for these large-necked moose, wildlife officers and Larimer County Sheriff’s Office staff were able to help.
The whole team was at the scene to release the animals. The moose have been reassured and rescue teams have to work to remove them from the fence. You can watch the process in the video, with officers maneuvering around large sleeping bulls.
After the animals were released, they were given restorative drugs and died shortly thereafter. Wildlife officials said that although the animals were exhausted, they were expected to make a full recovery.
Then, Colorado Parks and Wildlife reminded residents an important tip for keeping wildlife safe: Don’t have anything in your yard that could entangle wildlife.
