Used car shopping becomes stressful in 2022 due to high prices and limited choice. That hasn’t stopped tens of millions of people from buy used carhowever, since it is estimate that over 36 million were sold last year. Automotive search and analytics company iSeeCars research the used market every year to find the most popular models. While its listing contains few revelations, it’s interesting to see how the numbers correlate with new car sales.
Unsurprisingly, the best-selling new cars tend to be the most Popular used cars. Ford bundles multiple truck models into one sales category, but the automaker shipped more than 650,000 F-Series trucks last year and F-150 alone accounted for 3.3 percent of total used car sales. The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 And ram 1500 came in second and third, accounting for 2.8 and 2.3% of used sales for the year, respectively. The full top 10 list includes:

- Chevrolet Silverado 1500: 2.8%
- Ram 1500: 2.3%
- Chevrolet Xuan Fen: 2.2%
- Honda Civic: 1.8%
- Toyota Camry: 1.7%
- TOYOTA RAV4: 1.7%
- Nissan Rogue: 1.7%
- Ford Escape: 1.5%
- Jeep Grand Cherokee: 1.5%
In addition to the Ford F-150, many best-selling used cars are also in the top 10 new car. The Silverado 1500 and Ram 1500 ranked second and third best selling after ford truckwhile RAV4, camry, fecesThe Rogue, Grand Cherokee, Escape and Civic all made the top 25.
Hybrids and electric vehicles make up a small percentage of total used car sales, but their numbers are growing as the new car market expands year on year for models. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is the best-selling hybrid model but accounted for only 0.3% of used car sales last year. Ford Fusion Hybrid comes in second with 0.2%. Tesla dominates sales of used electric vehicles, with the Model 3 taking the top spot. It accounted for 0.4% of used car sales, followed by Tesla Model Y and Model S with 0.1% each.
iSeeCars also groups used car sales to find the most popular vehicles in each state. The Ford F-150 shipped most of the states, but the Toyota Tacoma was the most popular vehicle in Hawaii, while the Toyota Corolla was the most sold used car in Florida.
