Toyota confirms 3-row electric SUV to be assembled in the US by 2025

Toyota on Wednesday confirmed that it will assemble a three-row electric SUV at its Georgetown, Kentucky plant, starting in 2025.

The new SUV will use batteries supplied from Toyota’s North Carolina plant, and the facility will be “Toyota’s lithium-ion battery development and manufacturing hub needed for its expanding electric vehicle portfolio.” company wide”.

Although little is said about the three-row model, Toyota recently revealed that it will be part of a new generation of electric vehicles built on three different platforms: software, electronics and bodywork and chassis. At the same time, Toyota was rethinking the manufacturing process.

Toyota notes that the plants in Kentucky and North Carolina are the company’s newest and largest, respectively. The North Carolina plant, which will begin operations in 2025, will feature six battery lines in all, four of which are for hybrids and two for all-electric vehicles.

Toyota has argued that it can create a Bigger difference in overall emissions by emphasizing hybrids instead of betting all his energy on electric cars.

Toyota said: “The decision to assemble the BEV in the US demonstrates the company’s belief in electric vehicles and its commitment to designing, building and manufacturing vehicles for the market.

It will also likely allow new vehicles to qualify for an improved EV tax credit, known as the Clean Car Credit – an element that could make future EVs more competitive in the market.

Globally, Toyota says, it has brought to market more than 23 million “electrified” vehicles—hybrid, plug-in hybrid, fuel cell EV, and hybrid battery electric vehicle models. By 2025, it will have the option of electrification for every Toyota and Lexus model offered globally.
