Touch ‘n Go, Shell Malaysia deploys RFID payments at 88 stations nationwide; at 200 stations by the end of the year
Touch ‘n Go and Shell Malaysia are out Pay with RFID functions at 88 Shell stations nationwide, where customers can pay for fuel cashless at select pumps.
As the name suggests, the cashless payment method for fuel purchases at participating Shell stations is enabled via an activated RFID tag. This one-time registration and activation is done through the Touch ‘n Go eWallet, and once successful, the user will simply drive their RFID-equipped vehicle to the RFID bay at the participating Shell station.
The user will need to pre-select the preferred refueling amount and payment for the fuel will be automatically debited from the user’s Touch ‘n Go eWallet account. Touch ‘n Go says an RFID-equipped vehicle will be detected within seconds and the fuel pump will be available to the user in 80 seconds from that point.
Upon completion of refueling and return of injectors, any unused funds will be refunded within 10 minutes of refueling; however, there may be instances where refunds can take up to two business days to complete, the company said in a written response.
