Top Gear Australia releases trailer ahead of its imminent return to television

The first trailer for the latest reboot of Top Gear Australia has arrived, just a month before the show launches on the Paramount+ streaming service.

A minute-long video showcasing what we can expect when the season premieres on May 17 has been uploaded to YouTube, showcasing the challenges that showrunners Blair Joscelyne, Beau Ryan and Jonathan LaPaglia will face.

Like the UK show it is based on, Top Gear Australia takes presenters around the world as well as across the country, driving a wide variety of cars from multi-million dollar supercars to rusted cars.

The latter is certainly no stranger to Mr. Joscelyne, also known as Moog from the highly successful YouTube channel Mighty Car Mods that he founded with co-star and friend Marty Mulholland in 2007.

Mr Ryan is a former NRL footballer who moved into media, hosting The Amazing Race Australia in recent years, while Mr LaPaglia previously hosted Australian Survivor.

BBC Australia and New Zealand will produce the eight-part series, which will be shown exclusively on Paramount+.

Top Gear Australia previously ran for four seasons, with a rotating cast of hosts including Warren Brown, Charlie Cox, James Morrison, Shane Jacobson, Ewen Page and Steve Pizzati.

The British version of Top Gear is “resting,” following a crash that seriously injured co-host Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff in late 2022.
