The NBA 2022-23 season is less than a week away, and the fantasy basketball draft season is in full swing. Our fantasy basketball experts have been busy participating in several drafts of tournaments as well as giving strategy advice in various formats.
However, there are always a few last-minute things that can help anyone just starting their draft right now. André Snellings, Eric Moody, Eric Karabell, Jim McCormick and John Cregan break it all down.
Waiting on the hubs can pay off
In the most recent draft I did, the nine starting centers were between picks 76 and 121, including my three centers on that team. I was able to go outside early and often and still balance my lineup with the quality big boys in the late stages. – Snellings
Depth at guard point
There’s a lot of depth to the point guard, with plenty of quality starting options for managers. in my Category-level column H2H, I mentioned how essential it is to have your draft one from three top layers even with depth in place. There are 15 protection points in those floors combined. — Sad
Lack of quality small striker
I seem to have this problem every season, but even more this season: I just can’t find many small forwards that I feel good about in their ADP, so I keep beating them. and ended up with Portland’s Josh Hart or the Sun’ Mikal . Bridge to the end. Of course, I like Villanova’s products, and it’s not a bad idea to equip point guards and powerful strikers, but I still find that this position lacks depth in the top. 100. – Karabell
The fear of the tank fleet led to the players being looked down upon
The fantasy market seems to be fading most of the tank teams and their respective players. I think this trend has merit, as the market is likely to allow team goals to influence player expectations too much. Take it Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for example; His recent knee injury has taken a toll on his powers of fantasy, but a good degree of fading is also fueled by the risks associated with joining the Thunder. There’s Sexton, who is certain to finish in the top 10 or 12 in terms of usage rate this season, but has no buzz. Young players, and arguably emerging, from the likes of Spurs (Devin Vassell, Tre Jones), Pacers (Jalen Smith, Isaiah Jackson), and rocket (Alperen Sengunwing rookies) are all somewhat discounted in drafts this season. – McCormick
Stick to established names before emerging young stars
The second round has the same level of instability as the 10th round. Once you get out of the seventh pick, (say, say). Ja Morant), the next 15 picks are a trick shot. There In the late first round, early second round, managers are clinging to established names with obvious injury concerns (Durant, LeBron Lillard, Harden, KAT).
