Top 5 Honda Super Cub, Monkey and Dax versions

Top 5 Honda Super Cub, Monkey and Dax versions
We are firm believers that small bikes equal great fun. And we are not alone. Just look at the modesty Honda Super Cube—it may be small, but it is the most produced motor vehicle ever, with more than 100 million units sold worldwide.

Honda has more skins in the moto mini game than most. Over the years, the Super Cub has shared the limelight with other pint-sized legends, like the CT125 ‘Postie’ bike, Grom, Monkey and Dax. And each of them has also found its place in the custom scene.

We’ve rounded up five of our favorite custom Honda mini motorcycles for you to enjoy. Our list includes two Cubs, two Monkeys and Dax. Bon appetit!

Honda Super Cub by K-Speed Has anyone built more custom Honda Super Cubs K-Speed? We don’t think so. The Thailand-based powerhouse is extremely prolific; that makes them also a major importer and manufacturer of custom parts. Most of their builds are wrapped in items from their own ‘Diablo’ line, or serve as testbeds for new parts.

It’s hard to pick a favorite Super Cub from K-Speed (they’ve built so many), but this particular design stands out. The store took a pair of sponsors’ 2022 model Honda Super Cub 110i and turned them into small art deco masterpieces.

Finished in black and white, both Super Cubs feature identical bodywork. The wheels are wrapped and tucked under the spacious ABS fenders, the headlights have been moved lower than the stock ones, and both cars get new steering wheels with custom crates.

Each comes with new grips, ribbed side skirts, custom saddles, and Diablo exhaust silencers. K-Speed also modified the subframes and extended their swingarm. So even though they have a lot of bolted parts, these stylish scooters are by no means plug-and-play. [More]

Honda Cub by 2LOUD Custom Max Yicheng’s 2LOUD Custom has worked on all types of bikes big and small — and his work always impresses. This sleek Honda Cub in the city was built for a close friend and remains one of our favorite custom motorcycles to date.

Max’s first job was to swap out a pint-sized 80 cc engine for a 190 cc Zongshen engine, fitted with a Keihin CVK30 carburetor. The frame has been adjusted to accept the new engine and to convert it to a hardtail setup. A SYM Wolf fork at the front, and a rolling Cub 18F/17R.

The settings are far from standard though. Max converted the fork to a single knob, added a mountain bike handlebar, and built custom bars with built-in luggage racks. Upgrades include Frando front brake, Frando lever and hydraulic clutch switch.

But it’s the little details that really stand out on this build. There are two-tone leather seats, elegantly polished hinges that it attaches to, and an always-accessible fuel tank neck. It all works in harmony to create the best appeal of grocery shoppers. [More]

Kingston's Custom Honda Monkey
Kingston Custom’s Honda Monkey The Germseck 101 festival in Germany is a famous event for power and speed. But when Honda Germany wanted to make a splash at Geraltseck a few years ago, they picked an unlikely candidate for a custom project; Monkey 125 cc. After all, there is no substitute for displacement—or, in this case, its lack.

Luckily, Honda Germany already has one of the country’s most famous custom bike builders on their side. Dirk Oehlerking’s Kingston’s Customization, known for his high-end BMW mods, was tasked with customizing a pocket-sized Monkey. And he took it down in the park, with a super neat race car taking his hat off to Honda’s legacy.

Kingston's Custom Honda Monkey
Dirk started by adding a few pieces that take up a lot of space on his workshop shelves—such as the handlebars and footrests. He then upgraded the fork internals and fitted a new YSS shock absorber at the rear. A set of custom side panels adds classic racing style, while a revised Kepspeed exhaust gives the Monkey a louder bark.

Somewhere between a ’70s bum and the world’s cutest flat track car, Kingston’s Honda Monkey looks perfect in the brand’s traditional red, blue and white racing colors. A sturdy saddle and abbreviated subframe complete it. [More]

Custom Honda Monkey by Bunker Custom Cycles
Custom Honda Monkey by Bunker Custom Cycles of Istanbul Bunker Custom Cycle has a very recognizable style. Their works have perfect proportions and are covered with extremely luxurious paint layers. But is that vibe the right fit for the Honda Monkey? That’s right.

The two brothers behind Bunker, Mert and Can Uzer, customized the Monkey for a customer who bought it to take on his boat, but wanted a more classic look. They started by modifying its stance, by lowering the kit and new rear shock absorbers from Racingbros in Taiwan. A pair of 12-inch spoked wheels complete the wheelchair frame.

Other mods include clamp bars that rest on a special bolted clamp and smaller mirrors. There’s leather on the seats and custom side pockets, with aluminum fenders at both ends. The headlights have a protective mesh and are now closer to the bike thanks to the shorter brackets.

But the real gem is the ‘Gorilla’ tank graphics. Bunker hired a local illustrator to design it and apply it by hand. It’s one of the best graphics we’ve ever seen—on any bike size. [More]

Custom Honda Dax by Zambrag Garage
Zambrag . Garage’s Honda Dax We do not see enough Honda Dax customs. There may be tons of them out there — but we don’t see them, and it’s a pity.

This cheeky little figure comes from Bali. It’s the work of Zambrag Garage, who built it with a combination of Super Cub and Dax parts, and named it ‘Lil’ Pussy Chopper’.

Engine of a 1966 Honda C100, fitted to a modified Honda Dax chassis. A new fuel cell sits inside the stamped frame, with a custom beam fork supporting the front. The front wheel is a 17” without brakes, while the 10” wheel from a classic two-stroke Suzuki is in the rear. There’s no rear shock—just a pair of stiff struts.

Covered in an eye-catching paint job, with white accents on the handles and seats, this Dax helicopter is absolutely a bagus. We’ll ride it… won’t we? [More]
