Golf icon Tiger Woods appears to be on the mend after a car crash earlier this year left him injured.
Woods posted a short video on Twitter Sunday morning showing him practicing his twist. He wears what appears to be a compression shirt on his right leg.
“In progress,” he captioned the post.
Woods was largely out of commission for most of the year following a car crash in February. It is believed he was driving his SUV down a curvy road in Southern California when he swerved and hit the divider and then onto the curb, sending his vehicle rolling several times.
Woods suffered multiple leg injuries in forced crash surgery. Later Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department conclude that Woods was driving at nearly double the 45 mph speed limit, a factor that may have contributed to his inability to handle the bends of the road. Authorities said the vehicle crashed into a tree at 75 mph.
Woods sat in his first interview after the crash in May 2021, telling Golf Digest that his recent injury was the hardest he has ever faced.
“This is a completely different animal,” he told the outlet. “I understand more about rehabilitation because of my past injuries, but this is more painful than anything I’ve ever been through.”
Woods suffered an open fracture in his right leg, a complicated injury that required the insertion of a rod into the tibia, according to a statement from Harbor-UCLA Medical Center Dr Anish Mahajan that was posted to Woods’ Twitter. Woods also had to get pins and screws into his feet and ankles.
