Carvana advertises itself as a new and innovative way to buy a car. What if you took that idea and turned it into a pet adoption?

Kayla Delcoure runs social media for Pippi’s residencea cat rescuer in Atlanta. She has launched a creative society parcel Get inspiration from an online used car retailer to help find new homes for cats.

Acceptable models include the “Furrari 2014” named Arlis (black exterior, reduced power), “2015 Furcedes” named Buddy (custom gray saddle, heated seats) and the Cassie, “2022 Meowzda” (custom multicolored, self-cleaning exterior).

It all starts with finding a truck

“My inspiration for CatVana was funny,” Delcoure wrote NPR in an email. “My husband has been wanting to buy a truck for months and occasionally brings his phone to show me the list. On Tuesday morning, while I was thinking of cute ways to display all nine of them. Pippi’s Place available cat in a post, my husband walked into my office to show me the truck list.”

While Delcoure wasn’t overly interested in the truck, the image with details on the year of manufacture, make and model set her creative wheels spinning.

She said she went to the Carvana website and modeled a page with multiple cat listings from auto search. Delcoure writes: “Various interesting descriptions kept coming to my mind, such as ‘four-wheel drive’, ‘rear vents’ and the rest, so I also went ahead and made up my mind. individual lists.

Pippi’s Place was founded two years ago and is now Named after director Vicki Grizzard’s black cat, who she finds abandoned and in need of help. She named her son Pippi, after the mischievous name book character.

Sadly, Pippi the cat passed away in an accident, but Pippi’s Place lives on as her legacy. Where “the light of love always illuminates our loved ones and is a beacon for those in need”, liquidation told NPR.

Kitten season keeps volunteers very busy

“Right now, we are working on kitten season, so we have a large population of kittens that are too young to be adopted and some have illnesses and injuries that need to be treated before they can be adopted,” Delcoure said. move to interesting houses”. “Our volunteers are working around the clock (every four hours) to care for these kittens.”

Grizzard thought CatVana’s social media post was adorable. Delcoure shared a post on Reddit, where it received 65,000 votes and over 1,500 comments. Both Grizzard and Delcoure were amazed by the answer.

“We received a lot of encouragement. People even asked for donations,” Delcoure said. And the organization received an application to adopt “Furrari” Arlis, a cute old cat, from a family in Canada. They are willing to go through the adoption and transfer process to bring him home!”

Delcoure says her favorite ad is for Mr. Goodbar, “The 2023 Mini Pooper.”

“His list was the last one I needed to create and I knew I wanted it to be something lovely and relative to his size,” she says. “I happen to own and love a Mini Cooper and I knew the ‘mini’ part would be a perfect fit for him, so that’s what I picked!”

Delcoure says volunteers keep Pippi’s Place up and running and make sure all the kittens find homes that deserve all the credit.

“We have more volunteers who work countless hours to donate blood, sweat and tears to these cats,” she wrote. “I wouldn’t have anything to post if they didn’t do such a wonderful job taking care of our kittens.”
