Tiger Woods plays in circles at the Southern Hills venue on a potential scouting trip for the 2022 PGA Championship

Dust off your flight tracker, Big Cat is officially on the move once again. While Tiger Woods isn’t stalking the leaderboards in Mexico, he will be at the venue on Thursday at Southern Hills Country Club, which will host the 2022 PGA Championship over a three-week period.

While there wouldn’t be much of a reason for Woods to play this particular sport unless it was a scouting trip to collect his points ahead of his second major championship of the year, Woods has yet to announce his intention to play. this event.

The major 15-time champion hasn’t revealed much in regards to his schedule after finishing 47th at the 2022 Masters in early April. Played impressively into the weekend and kept his form despite it. Due to physical limitations, Woods only confirmed to Sky Sports that he would be attending the 150th Open in St. Andrews in July.

“I won’t be playing on a full schedule anymore, so it’ll just be the big events. I don’t know if I’ll play Southern Hills, but I’m looking forward to St Andrews,” he said. “It’s something close and dear to my heart, I’ve won two Inaugurals there, it’s the home of golf, and it’s my favorite golf course in the world. I will be there for that game.”

Dan Rapaport of Golf Digest reports that Woods will appear in the PGA Championship “without any setbacks”. If he does, it will take Tiger 15 years to win the Wanamaker Trophy at the Southern Hills, his fourth and most recent PGA championship. As such, the optimism of those who see the Tiger next month is increasing.

Perry Maxwell’s original design will look a bit different than it did in 2007 as golf course architect Gil Hanse visited the property, removing trees and restoring the bunkers. While this will barely affect Woods, the only thing he does for him is the position of the championship: Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Winning one of the hottest leagues – temperature wise – in the history of the championship, all players felt the sweltering heat in 2007 when the average temperature for the week reached nearly 100 degrees F. While the PGA Championship has been rescheduled, Woods not only experienced the effects of his injury over the weekend at Augusta National but also from the frigid weather conditions.

The PGA Championship hasn’t gone well for Woods since his win at the Southern Hills. Scoring 10 times, the 46-year-old has claimed two runners-up results but no other top 10 finish and missed four times.
