With a collection of lovely small towns and plenty of pet-friendly facilities, the hardest part of planning your pet-friendly getaway on the Oregon Coast is deciding where to go! To help you, we’ve done some real-world research at three of our favorite pet-friendly locations along the coast.
Pet Friendly Oregon Coast Road Trips
Manzanita
Less than a two-hour drive from Portland, Manzanita is one of the popular destinations on the Oregon Coast. People are attracted by its proximity and beauty. But it’s still less crowded than nearby Cannon Beach and the Coast!
Manzanita offers many outdoor activities. From hiking, surfing and boating to strolling the 7 miles of pet-friendly beaches. Time your visit during whale watching and hiking season Mount Neahkahnie for a chance to spot an offending gray whale. Don’t forget your binoculars!

Just down the road you will find Oswald West . State Park, named for the person who promoted the idea of the People’s Coast. This is a popular spot for surfers. And the cove is perfect for a picnic if you want to enjoy the sun and watch the other waves catch.
Or, if you want an underwater experience, but the frigid temperatures of the Pacific Ocean make you think twice, check out SUP Manzanita. You can take windsurfing lessons or tour the more peaceful waters of the Nehalem River Valley. Be sure to pack a life jacket for your dog!

Stopped by Winery in Manzanita Sip on small batch wine while your dog plays with Pinot, the owner’s friendly black lab. The winery also serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Or choose for Sand Dunes pubserves a variety of sandwiches, burgers and local seafood dishes on the pet-friendly patio.

Yachats
Another pet-friendly Oregon Coast option is Yachats (pronounced “yah-hots”). With a population of just over 600, this dear village has a lot to do with its diminutive size. Whether you enjoy exploring tidal pools or enjoying the views from the highest point on the Oregon Coast, Yachats is the perfect choice for a relaxing beach excursion.
For great hiking options, drive two miles on the way to Cape Perpetua Scenic Area. PEarn a $5 day pass or pull out your Northwest Forest Pass and hit the 6.5-mile pet-friendly trail to the Cape Perpetua rock shelter. Built in the 1930s, it sits 800 feet above the frenetic water. The views from here are hypnotic!
Back at the visitor’s center, be sure to check out the fascinating Pacific-gazing shows at Devil’s Churn, Thor’s Well, and Spouting Horn at Cook’s Chasm. For a simpler hike, try trail 804 that links seven miles of beach between Yachats and Waldport.

Pet-friendly dining in Yachats
Yachats has some delicious dining spots to whet your appetite. Start your day by enjoying a coffee and a cake at Green salmon, one of the best little cafes on the entire Oregon Coast. All of their teas and coffees are fair trade and organic, featuring some seriously creative beers like the Kashmir Express flavored with cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg.
This is Oregon, so of course there is a local brewery. Throw down a pint (or two) at Yachats Brewinga sustainable brewery that celebrates the beauty and culture of Yachats and welcomes pets on the outdoor patio.
Where to stay in Yachats with pets
Several camping options are available in the area, although not directly in town. Camping is available at Cape Perpetua for close access to the trails. If you want to be right in the heart of the action, consider The Firesidelocated on trail 804.
Pacific City
Long walk? Test. The perfect iconic haystack for your dog’s Instagram sunset shot? Of course. Pet-friendly Oregon Coast Brewery Pouring Good Wine? Sure. Huge dunes to climb and run down? Most certainly.
Although Pacific City is famous, it still maintains a peaceful atmosphere. If you enjoy cycling along idyllic country roads, bring your bike (and dog sled!) and cruise along. Three Capes Scenic loop. This route meanders along the northern Oregon coast, continuing through Cape Lookout and Cape Meares State Parks, and passing through several small towns.
Hike or run along the beach through Cape Kiwanda . Natural Area and Bob Straub State Park to the tip of Nestucca Spit. Stop by to check out some of the tide pools or try to spot the dory boats that bring in the day’s catch. Finish off strong with a hike up the Cape Kiwanda sand dunes. The vast views of the village and coastline are definitely worth the effort. Then race your dog to the bottom for a real thrill!
Pacific city pet-friendly food
Quench your cravings and thirst at Pelican Brewing, one of the most iconic breweries in Oregon. Here you can sit outside with your pet dog and enjoy the views of the haystack and the Pacific Ocean. Go during your free time, as the wait for a table can be long during peak season.
