We might joke that the Punisher, Moron Labe, and Three-Percenter trucks are just advertising that there are free guns inside, but you don’t really have to break in and steal them. Gun theft is a great way to get in serious trouble, something a Charlotte-area tractor-trailer driver is finding the hard way. Again.
WSOC report that Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested David Satterfield, owner of the Automotive Recovery and Parking Authority, on Sunday. He was charged with stealing two guns, as well as other items, from towed vehicles. But this is not the first time he has been accused of stealing a gun. Satterfield was also arrested in 2021 for doing the same thing. His trial for the first set of charges is said to begin in December.
Sheritte Corbin, one of Satterfield’s alleged victims, spoke to WSOC TV, saying that after retrieving her towed vehicle, “I immediately checked my wallet and checked my weapon. My wallet is there, my wallet is there, but my weapon is gone.” Corbin testified that she alerted police after Satterfield said he didn’t know what happened to her gun.
Two years later, the gun is still missing and there doesn’t seem to be much hope of finding it. But recently, the Charlotte police found her gun and let her know that they had arrested Satterfield. His charges include stealing a firearm, breaking or entering a motor vehicle, felony theft and possession of a firearm by a criminal.
Satterfield isn’t just accused of stealing a gun. Back in 2020 when his towing company was known as Charlotte A1 Solutions, the state attorney general sued the company for price-cutting, alleging he had “improperly towed the truck” and then charged owners up to $4,000 to get their vehicles back. He has also been in and out of prison for over 40 years for similar crimes.
In his defense, Satterfield told WSOC TV that it was his employee who stole the gun.
