This iOS 17 feature can turn your iPhone into the perfect office desk or kitchen companion

As ZDNET’s Jason Hiner and I review iPhone 14 Pro Last year, we agreed that the new Always-On Display is draining the battery like it’s been stuck in the desert for the longest time.

Apple has patched this feature in the coming months, including updating it to the screen completely dimmed when inactive, but the question remains as to the new smart display settings and how it affects battery life.

Also: iPhone 14 Pro has more innovation at the same price as last year

With the iPhone passively displaying more information than ever before (and updating it in the background), I wouldn’t be surprised if the device suffers from an impact on durability. Perhaps there would be an ambient setting that only turns on the screen when it detects someone nearby, but even that would take a toll on the device’s battery.

However, there is a simple fix for this problem, which leads me to the second question.
