When I wrote one of these Black Friday deals posts for your review, the first thing I did was light a candle and dig deeper into the dusty depths of the RPS archive to see if they have I reviewed the product in question. Due to my lowly status, I was not allowed to handle such divine items, so I had to consult the wisdom of the bettors. We have not written about HyperX Cloud II 7.1 wired headset, but Katharine looked at the wireless version, same, but less wire. Katharine again, hmm? Is this some kind of conspiracy? Is she using her boss’s mistress powers to get all the good stuff? Or was she just our hardware editor? I connected the dots!
Unsolved mysteries aside, the HyperX Cloud II is a great headset, all in shiny red aluminum and smooth matte black. It’s more than just a pretty face, with 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound and noise cancellation, all you need for a pleasant gaming and/or chat experience. Katharine is comfortable with the great sound and good mic, saying the purchase will be “really very satisfying”.
One of the complaints is the cost, but if you can forgo the freedom of wireless, the current asking price of £59 of the wallet-friendly wired embodiment is significantly more than the £150 version that we have reviewed. It’s a bargain and, after all, that’s what’s really about this season.
