While Zodiac is best known for its dive watches, the company’s long history also includes creating watches for every type of military or civilian adventure. One of those designs is Olympicis a Zodiac watch originally created in 1961.
From the outset, the Olympos has stood out from traditional Swiss designs thanks to its manta ray case, distinctive six faces and a crown located at 2 o’clock.
The new Zodiac Olympos stadium closely resembles the military version of the Zodiac created for the British Royal Navy in the late 1960s.
The watch, nicknamed ‘manta’, has been Zodiac’s bestseller for many years, both as an apparel model and as a sports accessory. Many may recall that Zodiac re-evaluated the Olympics in 2018 with some luxury alternatives.
At the end of 2022, Zodiac updated the collection with a more rugged version, the Olympos Field, a design that most closely resembles the military version that Zodiac created for the Royal Navy in the late 1960s.
The latest model features a new contoured steel case and stronger water resistance, currently rated at 200 metres. The new watch also reflects the military look of traditional field watches, with luminous, legible numerals and textured dial options in black or dark blue.
The green dial model appears on a crisp-looking light brown leather strap with sporty white stitching. The darker model, with a black dial, comes on a dark brown strap that is also bordered with white stitching.
And like the recent release Super Wolf of the Ceramic SeaThe new Zodiac Olympos Field is equipped with an automatic STP 1-11 movement that it protects with a sturdy caseback emblazoned with the Zodiac logo.
