The US Is Facing a Dangerous Heat Fuel Shortage – Is It Growing Because of It?

Essay by Eric Worrall

Stock up now, everyone. Alex Epstein makes the case that the absolute shortage of diesel heating fuel by 2022 is due to Democrats’ hostility to drilling and pipelines.

Our dangerous diesel shortage caused by anti-fossil fuel politicians

America is experiencing a dangerous shortage of diesel fuel. Blame our gratuitously anti-fossil politicians.

Alex Epstein

America is experiencing a dangerous shortage of diesel fuel.

Blame it on our anti-fossil fuel politicians who:

  • Prevented us from importing Canadian oil suitable for our refineries
  • Diesel production capacity halted or shut down in the US
  • Threatening new investments in diesel
  • Diesel is fuel for heavy vehicles and a source of heat for many homes in the Northeast. Prices are high and increasing because:
first) Inventories in October, which should have been high in preparation for winter, were the lowest since records began in 1982.
    2) Our ability to import diesel is uncertain.first

Higher diesel prices mean higher price for:

  • Agricultureuse diesel tractors and harvesters
  • all physical productstransported by diesel trucks, trains and freight trains
  • home heatingespecially in the Northeast2

Biden can use any excuse he wants, but Biden is the President who canceled the Keystone pipeline.

I’ve seen suggestions that completing the Keystone pipeline won’t make much of a difference. But Keystone will provide at least 700,000 barrels of crude per day to US refineries. With a shortfall likely to be around 10,000,000 barrels, according to the chart at the top of the page, and even considering that not all of that crude will be converted into fuel oil, it seems reasonable that the Keystone flows for a few days May bring supply back to the long-term average.

The symbolism of the Keystone delisting could have a more significant impact on oil availability than the actual delisting.

The drop in drilling activity is real.

The Covid shutdown and resulting decline in gasoline demand during 2020-21 could be a factor. But it is clear that in mid-2020, the lockdown cannot go on forever.

So I suppose Biden’s influence on drilling makes much more sense given the temporary Covid drop in demand.

I am not alone in this opinion. Bloomberg, which often supports President Biden, published an article last March that blamed the lack of leniency on the Democratic Party’s hostility to regulation.

Biden wants more US oil drilling. This is why they come back

The war in Ukraine has sparked a feud between the White House and the US oil industry as many companies reaped record profits from rising prices despite pumping less crude before the pandemic, leaving consumers US consumers besieged by rising gasoline costs.

President Joe Biden has urged US oil companies to ramp up production – but they are wary of his historic hostility to fossil fuels and the risk that new drilling will not work. long term.

The Biden administration finds itself in the uncomfortable position of entreat with oil companies to boost crude oil production, despite the long-term goal of shifting the United States away from fossil fuels that exacerbate climate change.

President Biden has done a lot to stop the development of the oil field since he canceled the Keystone pipeline, such as when he told the public a few days ago – “No more drilling”.

I feel sorry for the people in the Northeast, who may have had a long, hard winter. But I guess there are only so many times you can be scared Golden goosebefore it flies away and nests somewhere else.
