The three-engine Lucid Air Sapphire is billed as the most powerful sedan in the world — and it’s an EV
Lucid has made some not-so-subtle hints that something even bigger lies beyond its 1,050 horsepower. Air Grand Touring Performance and 1,111 hp Dream Edition Performance models, which matched the performance of the Tesla Model S Plaid.
That’s bigger has now been officially revealed at Monterey Car Week as the three-engine Lucid Air Sapphire. With more than 1,200 horsepower, the three-engine Air Sapphire will be the most powerful sedan in the world, according to Lucid – and yes, it extends to petrol models.
The Lucid boasts a 0-60 mph time of under two seconds, a 0-100 mph time of under four seconds, and a top speed of over 200 mph — all of which is enough to beat Pattern S Plaid on the track, before thinking about handling. With loud screams Dodge electric muscle car announced earlier this week, other competitors can wait on the drag leg.

In the Sapphire, a single motor powers the front wheels, while a new two-motor transmission powers the rear wheels. Because it’s part of a development program, all Sapphire upgrades don’t have to sacrifice rear legroom or trunk/trunk space.
To complement that, Lucid has added heat exchanger technology to the rear drive unit, with a “higher coolant flow rate” and it has upgraded the thermal strategy of the battery system.
Additionally, the Sapphire has stiffer front and rear springs, stiffer bushings, unique damper settings, and different adjustments to the steering and other core systems. Carbon-ceramic brakes are also included, and the wheels and tires are wider. The Aero Sapphire wheels include removable aero-disc wheel caps, capable of venting or venting.

Lucid says its two-motor arrangement can rotate the rear axle in the same way as a brake-based setup, but “faster, quieter and more seamless”. Furthermore, in tight corners, it allows the system to apply regenerative braking to the inner wheel while also supplying force to the outer wheel – providing better results than rear-wheel steering.
Externally, Sapphire consists of black paint Lucid Air Stealth Look as standard, while inside it gets a new interior theme called Sapphire Mojave, with black leather plus black Alcantara and Sapphire Blue contrast stitching. The front seats offer heating, cooling and massage functions, and the Glass Canopy hood is also decorated with black Alcantara. The headrests feature the Lucid bear logo, as a sign of the brand’s California roots.

It also has its own unique display, which includes special performance settings and driving modes. In one of the released photos, we see the Sapphire mode added on top of the Swift mode, along with drag, lap and endurance modes, and a lap timer.
Don’t expect the performance of some of the other dual-engine Air models here, which have a range of up to 516 miles on a single charge. However, for a company that puts emphasis on efficiencyDon’t be surprised if this all-round performance model still beats the efficient long-range versions from some of the competition.

Lucid calls the Sapphire “just the beginning, representing the launch of an all-new performance-focused brand in Lucid,” and it says Sapphire editions will be offered on all models. Lucid in the future.
The Sapphire will be priced at $249,000, ahead of arrival, with shipping starting next year for the US and Canada. Pre-orders for the new model will go into effect next Tuesday, August 23.
