When a soldier leaves for a months-long deployment to Kuwait, her family’s German Shepherd is still a puppy. So when he got home, Seiko the Shepherd wasn’t sure who was at the door. After all, dogs don’t recognize you by your looks. But once her dog can sniff around for a long time, she knows exactly who she is.
And she couldn’t contain her excitement that she was finally home.
Some canines can’t contain themselves when you leave the room for just a minute, never mind the excitement they must feel after you return from a yearlong assignment. But when Seiko’s sister finally returns after a year away, she doesn’t know who she is at first.
I don’t know about you, but I always expected the excitement of a dog to start at this point they keep an eye on their long-lost loved one. But, it is humans who recognize each other by their eyes. Dogs recognize members of their pack more by smell and sound. The strangeness finally started when Seiko sniffed and heard her sister speak.
Of course, when the reunion video was shared on YouTube, it went viral. The videos of soldiers reuniting with their pets are heartwarming to watch, and the video is sweet and wholesome.
The video begins with Bailey wearing his uniform and standing alone at the front door. The cameraman turns to the right, and we see Seiko running down the hallway. The shepherd ran to the door but jumped up and hesitated. Then she reached out her nose to sniff Bailey, barked, and stepped back. She was confused as to who was standing at the door.
Then, when her sister spoke, and Seiko had a few moments to sniff, she knew exactly who was standing there. Suddenly, Seiko started kissing her in puppy kisses, with her tail wagging like crazy. Seiko even jumped up and put her foot on Bailey’s shoulder. Her enthusiasm is evident, and she can’t stop filming, sniffing, and kissing her long-lost sister.
Bailey is happy to be back, and she smiles as she cuddles, scratches, and plays with sweet Seiko. Seiko may not have recognized her sister at first, but once she did, it was clear that she was overjoyed that Bailey was back home. At the end of the video, she even starts running back and forth to bring her toys!
