The Retired Racehorse Project Offers New Horse List


The Retired Racehorse Project announced on May 30th the launch of its new and improved Horse List, which has been temporarily shelved while the organization updates its website and improves procedures at the end.

The RRP Horse Listing is the only listing service dedicated to Thoroughbreds at all stages of a second career, from horses that have just retired to horses that have finished in all races. The department has an exhibiting track record, as well as from all backgrounds, including nonprofit adoption organizations and private sellers.

On the back end, the horse listing information will be linked to that horse’s profile in the RRP’s database and will be linked to any past or future Purebred Makeup registry. for each of those horses, create a trackable process to track how the horse moves through the second career. Increasing traceability is the primary goal of the RRP and the new Horse List has been designed with that in mind, with the long-term goal of creating a database for all Thoroughbred Horses in a second occupation. .

While RRP Horse Listing remains a free service for all to use, upgrades to individual ads and services are now available, including premium listings and a subscription model for the business, entity or organization that lists many horses throughout the year. Discounts on annual subscriptions are available to organizations receiving grants from the American Purebred Charity, organizations recognized by the Post-Breed Care Alliance, and Right Horse partner organizations. The scholarship program also launched with the RRP Horse List, providing the opportunity for list connections to credit the final entry fee to the Thoroughbred Makeup with funds held by the RRP in escrow.

The Thoroughbred Makeover is the world’s largest Thoroughbred Retraining contest for recently retired old racehorses. Contestants are trainers (professional, amateur, junior and team) registered between January 2 and 20 with Jockey Club registered Purebred Dogs whose work is or races published after July 1, 2021, and with no more than 15 retrains of trips before December 1, 2022.
