‘s heart machine Solar ash now out, invites players to join the skate adventure to destroy giant bosses. This is the sequel to their previous game, Hyper Light Drifter, but this time, they changed the 2D style to 3D and put you in a huge open world. I look forward to jumping into its lush and colorful alien landscape. Oh, become a sci-fi skater.
Solar Ash is an action adventure game where you play as Rei, a hero trying to save his world from Ultravoid (a massive black hole). To do this, she’ll need to slide her way to some major locations around the world and take them down.
I interviewed the developers back in July, who told me the game was “like a mix between Mario Galaxy, meets Shadow Of The Colossus, meets Jet Set Radio”. They wanted Solar Ash to feel quite different from Hyper Light, so they invested a lot of technology and energy into making sure the world was big enough for lots of lota movement and boss battles.
Looks like they’ve done a pretty good job as well. In his Solar Ash Reviews, Ed says, “Don’t expect a smooth ride, but when it’s put together it’s really impressive. If you’re after a couple of hours of ‘slicing and skating’, I’d say that. worth tying up those blades.”
Solar Ash is out now Epic game store, which costs £32/€40/$40. It’s also available on PlayStation. The developers have yet to say whether it will come to other PC stores like Steam.
