The Liverpool terror attack was caused by a man carrying an explosive device into a taxi, police say

Officers said Monday they believe passengers entered the vehicle with a device that suddenly exploded.

The driver was praised by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson for preventing a larger explosion. The mayor of the city earlier said he had “locked the doors” of his car to limit the effects of the explosion.

Joanne Anderson told BBC Radio 4 on Monday: “The taxi driver, in his heroic efforts, managed to divert what could have been an absolutely horrible disaster at the hospital.”
