In Necrom The Chapter Preview live stream, the Elder Scrolls Online team showcased the upcoming chapter’s new features and gameplay (coming out June 20 for PlayStation), including the Arcanist class, new team challenges, and part of Apocrypha never seen before in the Elder Scrolls game.
Mastering the Mystery
When it came to Arcanist, ESO’s first new class in four years, the team saw an opportunity to integrate it and its mechanics into Necrom.‘settings and themes of s. As such, the Arcanist drew its power from Apocrypha herself, and the team took the opportunity to incorporate elements of Hermaeus Mora’s realm into almost every aspect of the class’ look, feel, and gameplay.
Arcanist utilizes three unique Skill Lines, each supporting a different play style: Herald of the Tome (damage), Curative Runeforms (heal/assist), and Soldier of Apocrypha (boost). You are never locked into any one Skill Stream and you can combine your abilities with any other skills already available.
The team also discussed Arcanist’s brand new mechanic, the Crux System. When in battle, some Arcanist abilities will spawn a new resource called Crux, while others use any saved Crux to gain a buff. If you want to master this new class, you must learn to use both your Crux creation and spending abilities effectively.
Discover a new side of Apocrypha
in Necrom Chapter, you can explore the realm of Apocrypha, an endless library of unknown volumes of knowledge. Be warned – many seek to understand Apocrypha’s hidden secrets, but Mora’s kingdom also lurks innumerable dangers to the unprepared.
The team also revealed a whole new side of Apocrypha never seen in Previous Elder Scrolls Series: Chroma Incognito. A vibrant scene with mind-blowing colors, Chroma Incognito is a world shaped by what never happens—a realm of possibility rejected by a cruel fate, in stark contrast to the rest of the Apocrypha.
This distinct biome is an opportunity for the team to create something completely new for Elder Scrolls fans while expanding the Prince of Knowledge territory.
Of course, Chroma Incognito is filled with adventure and danger, including unique quests, goblins, party bosses, and public dungeons—all ready to be explored!
Overcoming new challenges
During the preview, the team also got a chance to crack some of Necrom’s new team challenges.
Bastion Nymic is a brand new, chapter-specific world event in which you and up to three allies enter one of Hermaeus Mora’s strongholds to reclaim it from invaders. The fortress protects countless powerful names, and if that knowledge falls into the wrong hands, it could spell doom for Apocrypha and Nirn.
Gaining access to the fortress is no easy task, however, as you need to first obtain special items by defeating the Herald’s Seeker found roaming both the Telvanni Peninsula and Apocrypha. . Collecting enough items will grant access to the Bastion Nymic, but be aware that a host of evil Daedras are attacking the stronghold, including Mora’s own renegade force—good luck!
In addition to the new world event, Necrom is also introducing a 12-Player Trial: Sanity’s Edge. In this PvE group activity, you enter the mind of a Mage’s Guild member to repair the damage caused by his unauthorized research.
As you explore this battlefield of divided souls, you discover a host of sinister enemies stand in your way, including three uniquely challenging bosses and unexpected champions.
If you help the mage restore his cracked sanity control, you’ll receive a special Trial bonus, which includes a new set of items and some of the rarest collectibles in the game, such as such as the Ram of Dark Dreams mount.
