Breana from Fresno Humane Animal Services approached a dog motionless on the ground in an orchard. The poor dog could only move his eyes. Breana’s heart broke. Then she noticed the dog had a broken leg. The defeated dog is at their mercy.
The dog, now named Keena, was wrapped in a blanket, picked up and placed in a cradle. She was then taken to the rescue center. Luckily, they found Keena a medical adoption family right away. Their little boy, a toddler, bent down when he first met her and said to his mother, “I need a good home.”
With time to heal and lots of love, Keena was gone four weeks later. The dog feels happy, perhaps for the first time in his life, and motivated to play with other dogs. She ramped up her fitness and eight weeks later, she was running!
