Chevrolet Silverado EV 2024 work truck reaches 450 miles

The Chevy Silverado EV Working trucks seemed too good to be true when GM started releasing truck statistics last year. Four hundred miles on a single charge? That is so wild. Well, now General says its engineers are even ahead of those estimates by the EPA’s estimated range of 450 miles.

General Motors North America’s new president, Rory Harvey, spoke about increasing mileage at a press conference on Friday. That range surpasses the competition by more than 100 miles. It certainly makes Silverado fans’ long wait worth it, especially if you’re nervous. Harvey gave all the props to the engineers. From Detroit free press:

“When you look at that range, especially for work trucks that are primarily fleet vehicles, we believe that gives us a competitive edge in terms of fleet customers. ,” Harvey said of the Silverado EV during a press conference Thursday.

The Silverado EV 2024 work truck will be offered with two specifications. At launch, it will have an EPA estimated range of 450 miles on a full charge, Harvey said, and “after that we’ll have other variants start to roll out and we’ll have options for different mileage configurations.”

Harvey credited GM’s engineers with “the persistence and working through all the different solutions” to surpass GM’s original goal of 400-mile range to reach the 450-mile mark.

“We look at improvements, we look at aerodynamics, we look at how the vehicle is calibrated, how the vehicle is set up,” said Harvey. “There are a lot of factors that influence it. The team was able to refine it.”

The original GM estimate was 400 miles, but 450 miles was approved by the EPA? That’s as much icing on a cake as a rose in one corner. Compare Silverado EV’s new shiny number to the range of Rivian RT1 (314 miles), the Ford F-150 Lightning (320 miles) and Hummer EV by GMC (329 miles) and it’s clear which truck is the winner of the race in terms of range. What it didn’t win, however, was the race to bring the product to market. Ford customers started receiving the Lightning around this time last year, and the Rivian RT1 will be available to customers one to four months after confirming their order, the Verge reported. The first Silverados will begin shipping to customers this spring. Meanwhile, GM has a Large backlog of at least 150,000 orders.

The higher-end RST version will be slightly less watery, and we’ll know more about that car as the fall sale date approaches. We’ve reached out to Chevrolet for more information, and we’ll update this post when we know more.
