“The battle to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2050 is over” – Watts Up With That?

So we can stop worrying and enjoy life right now, right?

Battle to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius by 2050 According to the researchers, those who looked at the data on global warming would perish.

To achieve this goal of limiting temperature rise by this amount, global carbon emissions must reach zero – where emissions are balanced by carbon absorption by plants and carbon capture technology – in 2050.

To reach the target, emissions would have to be reduced by 43 percent by 2030, the two scientists said in a paper published in the journal Nature. Science – but emissions are still increasing.

An increase of 1.5 degrees Celsius is considered important, because above that and there will be more heat waves, extreme weather events, droughts and greater economic damage.

Previous research has suggested that these emissions have increased 1.25 degrees Celsius.

abstract

Human activities have caused global temperatures to increase by 1.25°C, and the current emissions trajectory suggests that we will exceed 1.5°C in less than 10 years. Although the rate of increase in global carbon dioxide emissions has slowed and many countries have increased emissions targets, the current average mid-century net zero targets are not enough to limit warming. 1.5°C above the pre-industrial temperature. our technology. Both political and business leadership are needed to overcome this inertia, aided by growing societal recognition of the need for individual and system-level lifestyle changes. The available evidence has not yet shown that the world is seriously committed to achieving the 1.5°C target.

I always find it funny when doomsday predictions are announced, but I guess the scientists had to eat while they were waiting for the apocalypse.

Research says 1.25C warming has happened, but look around you. Nothing bad happened.

So are we now expected to believe that an extra 0.25 warming to reach 1.5 degrees Celsius will make all the difference?

Since we have a lot of ancient evidence that times were much warmer than today, there was a lot of life and abundance, like Eocene heat peaks, in which our primate ancestors encountered such favorable conditions, they spread over much of the planetI won’t lose sleep over the possibility of a 1.5 degree Celsius global warming breach.
