The Arizona Cardinals Pick Kyler Murray’s Fifth Year; Now under contract until 23

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Arizona Cardinals pick up midfielder Kyler Murraypicks a fifth year on Wednesday, fulfilling a pledge general manager Steve Keim made earlier this year at the combined NFL.

Selection for 2023 will guarantee Murray a salary of about $29 million.

Murray, who was brought in for the first time in 2019, is set to enter the final year of his rookie contract, making him eligible for an extension that his agent has publicly stated. Murray wants sooner rather than later.

At the combined NFL in March, Keim said the Cardinals would choose Murray’s pick, a day after Murray’s agent, Erik Burkhardt, posted a letter on Twitter explaining how a detailed contract proposal sent to the team.

Murray, 24, won rookie of the year and is a two-time professional bowler. He led the Cardinals to improved win totals in each of his three seasons and led Arizona to the knockout stages last season for the first time since 2015.
