THA to host a Webinar on HISA Registration
The Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association will host a webinar on “HISA Registration for Racehorse Owners and Trainers” on Wednesday, June 1, from 11-11:30 a.m. ET. According to the Equestrian Safety and Integrity Authority, effective July 1, 2022, you must register as an “Insured Person” if you are licensed by your state’s Racing Commission, unless you have no horse contact and don’t have access to a restricted area of the racecourse. All owners, trainers and logistics workers are required to register, as are any licensees with access to the barn area. Trainers must also register all horses they care for.
The presentation will feature a HISA representative who will review the step-by-step process to apply for Insured Persons and Insured Horses. Owners and trainers can also ask questions about the registration process.
Under HISA, faculty and teaching assistants are required to complete four hours of Continuing Education (CE) annually; Owners are required to complete two CE hours per year. Owners and instructors participating in the HISA Registration Workshop will earn one (1) full CE credit towards the CE requirement annually. In addition, the webinar will be recorded and posted on the CE website for trainers and coaching assistants, www.HorsemenU.com.
You must pre-register to participate in this webinar, and participation is limited to 500 attendees.
