“I’m thinking of quitting my job and becoming a full-time influencer,” Musk said in the tweet without elaborating.
It was not immediately clear whether Musk, a popular user of the social media platform, was serious about relinquishing his role.
Musk, who is also the founder and CEO of rocket company SpaceX, and leads brain chip startup Neuralink and infrastructure company The Boring Company, said on a conference call in January that he is expected to become the chief executive officer of Tesla many years”.
“It’s nice to have a little extra free time instead of just working day and night, from waking up to going to bed seven days a week. It’s quite stressful.”
Last month, he asked his Twitter followers if he should sell his 10% stake in the electric carmaker, and the majority agreed. He has sold nearly $12 billion worth of stock since then.
