Ford seems to be going with the “if you can’t beat them, join them” charging method. The automaker has announced that it is partnering with Tesla and is allowing my electric car to use more 12,000 Tesla superchargers across US and Canada in early 2024. Current Ford Blue oval fee network already has more than 84,000 chargers – including access to over 10,000 public DC fast chargers. With the addition of 12,000 Tesla Superchargers, Ford says it is creating the largest integrated fast-charging network across the United States and Canada.
“We don’t want Tesla Superchargers to become a Walled Garden,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk said on the Twitter Space call. We want it to be something that supports electrification and sustainable transportation in general.
