Tesla employee allegedly shot dead colleague outside Fremont, California factory
Anthony Solima, 29, was arrested on a murder warrant after detectives reviewed surveillance footage and determined he shot his colleague Monday afternoon in a parking lot, Captain Fred Bobbitt’s The Fremont Police Department told CNN.
The coroner’s office is working to confirm the identity of the victim, police said.
Detectives determined the suspect and victim had argued with each other earlier in the day, police said.
Solima left her job abruptly before shooting her colleague, according to a preliminary investigation by the police department. Police said the victim had just finished a shift before being shot.
Authorities conducted surveillance on Solima following the incident and made arrests without issue, they said.
They said that through a search warrant, police recovered a loaded short-barreled rifle in the suspect’s vehicle as well as an expired casing nearby. Several rifle casings were also found earlier at the crime scene.
Solima was taken to the Fremont Police Department for questioning and held at the Santa Rita Jail. There are no prominent suspects and police said they do not believe there is any additional risk to the community.
CNN is working to determine if Solima will retain legal representation.
