Tesla Cybertruck shows off interior at US car meet – production EV pickup coming soon?
The Tesla Cybertruck will most likely make its official debut as a production-ready model in 2023, more than three years after it was introduced as a prototype in November 2019. , Franz von Holzhausen, rolled in an all-electric pickup truck to the surprise of guests at the event.
Naturally, social media is flooded with photos and videos of the Cybertruck, providing a good look at the pickup’s interior. Minimalist and very angular in design, the Cybertruck’s cabin features a large central touchscreen that integrates all vehicle functions to eliminate virtually any physical buttons and dials.
Compared to the prototype, the rectangular steering wheel has been replaced by a rectangular one, and the center passenger seat has been removed to be replaced by a traditional center console, where the storage compartments, racks and shelves are. cup holder and wireless phone charger. There’s also no shortage of glass on display, with a large panoramic roof and sloping windshield, while observers point out the ventilated seats.
On the outside, it maintains the sharp and angular lines of the prototype, but has some modifications such as equipped with a camera (for the driver assistance system) and a charging port hidden in the fender.
The main attraction of the pickup truck is the bed that Tesla calls the “vault” on Cybertruck. As with other electric pickups, there will be power outlets for devices and accessories, although these do not appear to be fitted to this vehicle (there are covers for them). A powered bed tonneau cover was also displayed at the event.
Initial specifications for the Cybertruck suggest that there will be four variants, starting with a single-engine RWD that is said to offer a range of up to 400 km, a 0-96 km/h acceleration time (0– 60 mph) in about 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 175 km/h.
Followed by Dual Motor AWD (480 km, 4.5 seconds, 195 km/h), Tri Motor AWD (800 km, 2.9 seconds, 210 km/h) and Quad Motor AWD (1,000 km, 2.5 seconds) ), 240 km/h). All four have the same 1,600 kg payload, with towing capacities ranging from 3.4 to 6.8 tonnes depending on powertrain output.
According to a report by Reuters, production of the Cybertruck is expected to begin at the company’s Giga Texas plant later this year. Those interested can pre-order one for a fee of $100 (RM468) but there’s no indication of a retail price – the company says the base variant will start from under $40,000 (RM187k) in 2019.
