Tesla Cybertruck recalled for defective Cyberstuck pedals

Tesla e-trucktruck So rugged that only a car wash can beat itreported recently encountered a stop sale because problems with its accelerator kept causing unintended acceleration problems. Don’t worry though, just because the Cybertruck can attack at any time doesn’t mean it necessarily has to. Also, TechCrunch reports that Tesla has now recalled every Cybertruck ever delivered to address the problem of its 7,000-pound trucks accidentally accelerating.

Since it began delivering Cybertrucks to customers in late November of last year, Tesla has apparently produced 3,878 Cybertrucks, all of which are affected by the recall. However, believe it or not, this is not the first time the Cybertruck has been recalled. Despite essentially starting production in December, the Cybertruck still included in the January recall due to it and other Tesla models displaying incorrect font sizes for the Brake, Parking and Anti-lock Braking System warning lights on the dashboard.

This time, things are a little more serious as the automaker confirmed to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the gas pedal may be loose. If it slides forward, it could get caught in the footrest, causing the heavy, powerful pickup truck to accelerate. Tesla is reportedly unaware of any accidents or injuries that have occurred as a result of this design flaw.

According to Tesla, they first discovered the issue thanks to a customer complaint on March 31. The second customer complaint came in on April 3 and after performing some testing , they realized it was necessary to issue a recall after discovering, “[a]n unapproved changes were introduced to the lubricant (soap) to aid in the assembly of the gasket components to the accelerator pedal.” The result is, “[r]Excess lubricant reduces the pad’s ability to hold to the pedal.

Up to now this year, Tesla shares are down about 40% and recently laid off about 10 percent of its workforce. Meanwhile, CEO Elon Musk is fighting to have the billion-dollar bonus package restored and even went to launching a website in the hope of convincing shareholders to give it to him.
