TCA in honor of Roytz and our Mims retirement furnace


Thoroughbred American charities will honor Jen Roytz with the Allaire du Pont Leadership Award and Haven Retire Our Mims with the Ellen and Herb Moelis Industrial Service Award at its 32nd Annual Auction ‘Tis the Season Celebration on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Grand Reserve in Lexington, Ky.

The Allaire du Pont Leadership Award is presented annually to an organization or individual whose charitable efforts are consistent with TCA’s mission. Winners include LNJ Foxwoods, Dan Rosenberg, Barbara Banke, Bourbon Lane Stable, Graham and Anita Motion, Frank Stronach, Fasig-Tipton, Darley, Todd Pletcher, Roy and Gretchen Jackson, and Madeline Auerbach.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Roytz is a marketing and communications professional based in Central Kentucky with expertise in thoroughbred racing, crossbreeding, and aftercare. For the past 10 years, Roytz has served as a board member, marketing consultant and executive director of the Retired Racehorse Project. Roytz is a partner at Topline Communications and formerly the chief marketing officer of Three Chimneys Farm. Roytz is an ardent advocate of purebred child care and frequently speaks on the topic at both the national and local levels. She and her husband, Dr. Stuart Brown, own and operate Brownstead Ranch, a facility that breeds, sells, races and sports horses in Versailles, Ky. of the Allaire du Pont Leadership Award.

The Ellen and Herb Moelis Industrial Service Award is presented annually to an organization that works to uphold TCA’s mission. Past laureates include the TAKE2 Second Career Taming Program, Caribbean Post-Taming Care, Backstretch Employee Services Team, Jockey Club Mastering Incentive Program, CANTER USA, Retired Racehorse Project, Belmont Child Care Association, Old Friends and New York Race Chaplain.

Founded in 2007 by Jeanne Mirabito, Our Mims Retirement Haven is the only purebred childcare organization in the United States dedicated solely to the care of retired children. The name of the organization is the 1977 fat 3 year old champion that Mirabito adopted in 1997. In honor of the mare, Our Mims Retirement Haven was created to help more mother hens at the end of their breeding career. of them. Sadly, in 2020, Mirabito passed away; however, her husband, Pete Mirabito, and the organization’s board of directors proudly carry the vision and mission of the organization.

The stallion season auction opens with an online steed season auction at 9 a.m. Wednesday, January 5 and continues through 4:30 p.m. EST on Friday, January 7.
