Targeted Premier 1K members are eligible for bonus miles upon check-in and checked baggage on the United app

play miles has been a popular way for unified airline customers to earn more MileagePlus miles when traveling on airlines.

Previously, Mile Play offers had several requirements: RegisterBook a flight that meets the requirements of your particular offer and earn miles before your offer expires.

Now, in combined with existing Mile Play offers that expire on December 15, United has launched a brand new type of Mile Play offer. In our 25 surveyed MileagePlus accounts (with different levels of United status), our tests show that this new Mile Play offer is only available to targeted Premier 1K customers. This time, however, targeted members will be rewarded for completing certain tasks in the United app. Let’s take a closer look.

As mentioned, United have long had Mile Play offers that require you to spend and fly after signing up. Here are some of the perks TPG employees got when United rolled out their ultimate Mile Play offers in October:

  • 2,500 bonus miles after you book and take a trip with a fare of $200 or more.
  • 2,500 bonus miles after you book and take a trip with a fare of $225 or more.
  • 4,100 bonus miles after you book and take two trips, each costing $150 or more.
  • 7,000 bonus miles after you book and take three trips, each costing $100 or more.
  • 5,000 bonus miles after you book and take four trips, each costing $100 or more.

However, United’s latest Mile Play offer includes two components:

  • Check in for your flight on the United app.
  • Use the Drop Bag Shortcut or check the bag online.

My offer offers 600 bonus miles for online check-in and 1,000 bonus miles for checked baggage using Shortcut to drop bag; Shortcuts is United’s new way to drop off your baggage after making your checked baggage selections in the United app or on united.com. The terms of my offer state that I must begin my travel at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Denver International Airport (DEN), or San Francisco International Airport (SFO). ) and use the Baggage Drop-Off Shortcut at one of these three airports.

If I complete both activities by December 7, I’ll earn 800 bonus miles, bringing home 2,400 bonus miles (worth $29.04 at Valuation of TPG).

TPG’s Zach Griff, also a Premier 1K member, received an offer similar to mine with the same expiration date of December 7; however, his offer does not have a Bag Drop Shortcut requirement.

Zach’s offer includes 400 bonus miles when he checks in on the United app and 800 bonus miles if he checks his baggage online. If he completes both sections, he will receive 600 bonus miles, bringing the total bonus miles to 1,800 (worth US$21.78 at Valuation of TPG).

bottom line

United now has a brand new Mile Play offer for targeted Premier 1K members. Instead of accumulating miles through new bookings that meet specific spending requirements, United customers can earn miles from existing bookings through activities they may have already taken.

It’s possible that Premier 1K members in Chicagoland, the Denver area and the San Francisco Bay area could be targeted for offers like mine with the Bag Drop Shortcut. Otherwise, you may find offers more like Zach’s.
